Volunteer

We are an all volunteer operation so we need lots of helpers to do what we do.

When you come to our warehouse you’ll see lots of activity: phones ringing, fax machines spitting paper, helpers with shopping carts filled with gifts to wrap, volunteers interviewing the public, and the boxing and storing of families’ completed sets of gifts.

Once you’ve visited, it’s hard not to get into the Christmas spirit. A lot of our helpers bring friends with them to make it all the more fun.  We have a variety of opportunities you can select from depending upon your interests. If you have a specific skill that isn’t covered below, talk to us about it and we’ll do our best to find a place for you.

These are the primary activities of our volunteers:

Spanish language translating (First 3 weeks in November, including Wednesday evenings)

Interviewing and screening applicants (First three weeks in November, including Wednesday evenings) to verify their qualifications and enter the children's needs into the computer (clothing sizes, interests, and their Christmas wish list)

General office work (November and December) answering and making phone calls, filing, copying, data-entry, faxing, mailing etc.

Gift wrapping (mid-November to mid-December) wrapping, tagging and boxing pre-selected gifts for the children in each family

Warehouse help (mid-October through mid-January) packing, unpacking,  moving inventory, setting up tables and receiving boxes of gifts from the community, distribution, etc. (stamina and strength are needed for this)

Hours

We have flexible hours though most of our tasks are done during the general business day.  Volunteers usually come in between 9-12:30 or 12:30-4 and some work Wednesday evenings taking applications in November.

If you’d like to volunteer to help us, please see the Contact Us section of this website.
